Rotorua to host Rugby World Cup teams
Rotorua region is to host 5 teams during the Rugby World Cup held in New Zealand in 2011. The teams are Europe 2, Fiji, Ireland, Namibia and Samoa. This is great news, and our own team at Waimangu Volcanic Valley looks forward to welcoming the overseas visitors to Rotorua. We invite all Rugby World Cup visitors to take a break from Rugby when the going gets tough - come and enjoy the ambience of our beautiful New Zealand bush setting.

Interesting times in Waimangu Volcanic Valley
November was an interesting month in Waimangu's valley. Slightly hotter water temperatures during the month meant more than usual overflows from Inferno Crater into Frying Pan Lake. The hotter water also caused the Birds Nest Springs to "fountain" into the air, a rare treat for lucky visitors who chose November to explore the valley. All agreed it was a great sight and one they wouldn't have missed!

Air New Zealand has announced a new trans-Tasman service between Rotorua and Sydney
From 12 December 2009, Air New Zealand will operate flights to Rotorua on Saturdays and Mondays till the end of January 2009, and thereafter on Saturdays and Tuesdays.
Rotorua, located in the Bay of Plenty region, can be considered as one of New Zealand’s “iconic tourism destinations,” Glen Sowry, general manager of Air New Zealand’s Tasman Pacific region, said. The planned Rotorua-Sydney service, Sowry added, also will also make Rotorua “significantly more accessible” to travellers from Asia who visit Australia and New Zealand often. With the commencement of the new service, these travellers from Asia will be able to fly directly to Rotorua from Sydney, instead of via Auckland.
Full details can be accessed from Air New Zealand's website www.airnz.co.nz

Waimangu is a hit in Tahiti
This month Waimangu was part of a group of New Zealand tourism operators who took part in Tahiti's annual New Zealand Days, held in conjunction with Air New Zealand, Papeete, in the city's central business district. Overall, approximately 1,000 Tahitian and ex-pat French consumers visited the event most anticipating a visit to New Zealand in their upcoming school holidays, and all wanting to know what they can do while they are here. Geothermal and volcanic areas such as we have in the Rotorua region are a great drawcard and after our visit Waimangu Volcanic Valley is top of the list.
